PAVE New Haven - Partnering to Advance Visions for Education

PAVE is seeking 20 VISTA members for the 2016-2017 year to fight poverty at a local level in New Haven. PAVE is an education project composed of youth-serving organizations, schools, and the Mayor’s Office of the City of New Haven that collaborate to deliver high-quality resources for New Haven Public School students and their families. PAVE VISTA members serve throughout the city of New Haven to target the most crucial issues in the community in order to reduce the youth achievement gap among students in low-income families compared to their wealthier peers. Serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA member is a terrific way to give back to New Haven in a meaningful way while expanding professional networks and gaining valuable credentials for careers in the nonprofit sector, government agencies, and in education. Positions are available beginning August 2016 to serve at the following host site organizations: Mayor’s Office of the City of New Haven, Solar Youth, Higher Heights Youth Empowerment Programs, United Way of Greater New Haven, EVOLUTIONS at Peabody Museum, Dwight Hall at Yale, New Haven Reads, Squash Haven, Community Action Agency, Citywide Youth Coalition, and the Agency on Aging of South Central CT.
