Connections for Independent Living

Connections for Independent Living fully embraces the concept of independent living for people with disabilities. We work to eliminate any type of barrier that prevents people with disabilities from having equal access to all aspects of the community. We have specialized programs for youth, people with MS, the Deaf and people with vision loss. We help those who so desire to move out of nursing homes and back into the community; we keep others from having to move to the nursing home in the first place. Serving over 600 individuals per year and growing rapidly, we are in need of increasing our capacity to provide programs to help our consumers reach their goals of self-sufficiency and independence. The VISTA member will work to increase the proceeds of our 17th Annual Gala of Wines scheduled for March 7, 2014. Additionally, a system needs to be put in place for donor development and we need a process for planned giving. These are initiatives that the VISTA member will help to spearhead. We are a successful organization and are on the cusp of greatly increasing our capacity. We can offer a challenging and enriching experience to a person who wants to help level the playing field for people with disabilities. The capacity building work of the VISTA member will help us to achieve our mission of promoting the full inclusion and integration of people with all types of disabilities into all levels of society. The VISTA member will help us work towards independence and equality for people with disabilities.
