Public & School Partnership - VISTA Summer Associates
Each summer, the Public & School Partnership at Utah State University selects qualified applicants to serve as AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associates in local schools and community organizations in the Cache Valley area. The Summer Associate program is a 10-week summer term. PSP's Summer Associates work during local hours of operation to help site supervisors coordinate summer learning, meal access, and/or substance abuse prevention efforts at local schools and community organizations. Summer Associates will work with youth, volunteers, and site staff. Specific activities vary across the available sites. Summer Associates work 40 hours/week, receive a living stipend, and can choose between an end-of-service education or cash award. Associates are NOT granted vacation or sick days during the 10-week service (except for federal- and state-observed holidays). **REQUIRED - IN YOUR MOTIVATION STATEMENT INCLUDE YOUR TWO (2) PREFERRED SITES where you would like to be interviewed. CACHE REFUGEE & IMMIGRANT CONNECTION (community garden coordination and community outreach), 4. CACHE SENIOR CENTER (meal access program), 5. CHILDREN'S JUSTICE CENTER (youth program and outreach), 6. COMMON GROUND (youth leadership camps), 7. ELLIS ELEMENTARY/LCSD (English-learning camp), 8. THE FAMILY PLACE (summer learning camps and volunteer coordination), 9. LOGAN FAMILY CENTER (summer learning camps), 10. LOGAN PRIDE FOUNDATION (community outreach, training, summer learning program), 11. USU Student Nutrition and Access Center (project coordination and community outreach)

Member Duties : Summer Associates will support organizations to prevent summer learning loss, provide affordable and accessible meals, and provide substance abuse prevention resources. Associates will work closely with site staff and full-time VISTA members to continue and improve upon existing programs, research and pilot new programs that meet client and site needs, raise awareness of local resources, coordinate learning and meal-access programs for disadvantaged youth and families, and procure donations to build site capacity. Specific activities vary by site.
