ShareCorps - WUCC- Summer Associate

Washington United Church of Christ is a mission church in Camp Washington, Ohio, serving at risk children and adults in generational poverty and homeless adults. We have several (free) food ministries: Sunday Morning breakfast, lunch (Monday-Thurs), one weekly evening meal, supper to school children during school year, Camp Cupboard and Closet which offers food, household items, furniture, etc., free. Summer Program - ( Mon-Thurs, 8 weeks) - 50+ children and youth mission group have 2 or 3 meals a day with activities and field trips. Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets and a Christmas giving program for children. Homework Club offers academic help to elementary aged students. Youth Group offers a safe place for youth and tweens to be together and grow. *This is a VISTA sub-site of the Ohio Associate of Foodbanks ShareCorps program.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will make a difference in the life of a child and have fun doing it! Working as part of an important team, you will ensure healthy meals for 50+ children during the summer months. You will assist in menu planning and shopping, cleanliness and safety in food preparation, storage and service. You will prepare meals for and go on field trips! You will teach nutrition classes and fitness, and supervise or lead exercise groups. You will collect and disseminate statistics reflecting amount of food used and served and amount of children fed. You will also interact with the children in educational groups. PLEASE JOIN US!
