The Employment Specialist position is part of the Emerge VISTA program and will be serving out of the Catholic Charities Opportunity Center in Minneapolis MN. We have an amazing opportunity for you to assist in building and expanding our workforce development program for those experiencing homelessness with criminal backgrounds. You will play a key role in the overall success of our workforce development effort by providing internship and job opportunities to our job seekers. Everyone deserves a second chance! Your role as an Employment Specialist will help us carry out our mission to serve those most in need by advocating for justice in the community. You will help identify challenges, develop goals and create opportunities within the business community to help job seekers break free from poverty and gain stability. Catholic Charities advocates for services and programming that supports our clients’ success. We conduct community outreach and educational activities aimed at building a community commitment to solving poverty and creating opportunities for everyone to succeed.

Member Duties : This Employment Specialist position will lay the course of action needed to identify and develop relationships within the business and service organizations. Your goal is to identify and increase the number of employers who will give our job seekers a second chance. This opportunity will take you out of the office and put you at the helm, steering the program toward success! This position will have you in the community learning and understanding the job market and resources available to job seekers. You will create, develop and maintain critical relationships that will lead our job seekers on pathways out of poverty. Through this networking effort, not only will you build capacity for the program, your personal skill sets will be enhanced and you may meet people who can help you with your career. By helping this program open doors for our job seekers, you will open doors to people and organizations that you may not have been able to reach on your own.
