ShareCorps-GRAD Cincy-College Access, Readiness,and Support

GRAD Cincinnati is a local non-profit organization that provides a premiere college readiness, access and support program to over 3,650 students in six Cincinnati Public Schools. In our work, we serve some of the city's most economically disadvantaged students helping them to achieve academically and realize their goals of succeeding in college and career. We provide a weekly tutoring program called Bearcat Buddies in partnership with the University of Cincinnati to students in our four elementary schools and two high schools. Bearcat Buddies trains students from the University of Cincinnati and places them in our schools to tutor those students who are struggling academically and need the one-on-one attention. In two of our high schools we serve as the lead agency for each school's Community Learning Center and we provide Resource Coordinators, College Readiness Coordinators, after school programs, and summer programs. We provide college access programming only at our third high school. The College Readiness Coordinators our unique to our organization and work within the schools on a daily basis to guide students through the college application process, which includes researching colleges, preparing for college admissions tests, writing college essays, and applying for financial aid and scholarships. For more information on our organization, visit our website at www.gradcincinnati.org.
