Community Outreach Coordinator for Youth Development
 
 
 
Rural Solutions is a regional non-profit serving ten counties in Northeastern Colorado. The home office is two hours from Denver with many historical sites and recreational activities located throughout the region. As a small organization working with many communities and organizations, the VISTA member will have the opportunity to not only make a great impact but also be exposed to many service organizations, service providers, and community collaborations working toward solutions for at-risk youth and families. Rural Solutions identifies regional and community specific gaps, advocates for change, and educates the community and brings people together to find solutions to health and human service issues in the region. The mission of Rural Solutions is to collaborate to address issues and create positive solutions to support the health and well-being of the diverse communities in Northeastern Colorado.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will assist with a variety of fundraising and programatic activities that will assist Rural Solutions in providing needed services for low income and at-risk families and youth. These activities include: 1) Organizing and executing The LifeSource Project fundraiser (Rural Solutions’ Suicide Intervention Project) with community businesses, which provides support for at risk youth for mental health therapy throughout the ten northeastern counties service area, 2) designing a sustainable procedure for information for school counselors for The LifeSource Project referral process and current mental health therapy providers throughout the ten county service area, 3) Develop and revise a ten county resource directory for service providers for online access and limited printed availability, and 4) assist with the organization, planning and delivery of a legislative event for local economic, non-profit and community leaders to discuss issues affecting Northeastern Colorado.
