HandsOn Greater Phoenix Summer Associates

The 2015 HandsOn VISTA Summer Associates program will place members at partner host sites across Maricopa County to directly serve youth. This is a short-term, direct-service opportunity for 18-24 year old individuals to work alongside staff at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix, City of Phoenix Parks & Recreation, Mesa Public Schools, and the City of Mesa to lead youth in educational activities. The goal is to keep at-risk youth engaged over the summer and prevent learning loss. Each of the roles at these sites will vary slightly, but all of our members will be providing direct-service support for summer youth enrichment programming. Since 1993, HandsOn Greater Phoenix has worked with nonprofits, low-income schools, neighborhood associations, and government entities to assess and meet the volunteer needs of the Greater Phoenix area. Summer Associates is an extension of our year-round AmeriCorps VISTA team. Throughout the year, HandsOn Greater Phoenix engages a team of 20 full-time AmeriCorps VISTA members in service in Maricopa County at nonprofit and public agencies to create and expand programs that bring low-income individuals and communities out of poverty.
