Downstreet strengthens the communities by engaging with people providing affordable homes and connecting people to resources and services they need to thrive. Downstreet manages and develops permanently affordable rental housing and affordable homeownership programs in Washington, Lamoille and Orange counties. Downstreet HomeOwnership Center (HOC) is a member of the national NeighborWorks® America Network and is comprised of 3 Programs: 1. Shared Equity Program (SEP) this program helps buyers with down payment assistance to create permanently affordable homeownership options 2. Home Education provides group and individual counseling in financial literacy, homebuyer education and homeowner services 3. Green Mountain Home Repair Program is a joint collaboration between Downstreet and Windsor-Windham Housing Trust in providing home repairs to low income home owners. The role of the HOC Client Coordinator will be to serve new and existing customers receiving services through the Homeownership Center. They will strive to build trust through ensuring a high level of client communication and support. This position will be instrumental in designing and implementing outreach and community engagement efforts for our service area. Service occurs both in an open office environment as well as in the communities located in Washington, Lamoille, and Orange Counties. Having your own vehicle and ability to serve on some evening and weekends are required. Position begins September 10th, 2018 and ends August 9th, 2019. This position is Full Time: Requires 1,700 hours for an average of 40 hours per week for 48 weeks. Member will receive a living allowance of $20,400 (pre-tax), and an education award of $5,920 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service. Member Duties : • Learn the overall functions of Downstreet’s Homeownership Center and provide basic information to people who call wanting more information about our 3 services; Shared Equity, Education and Home Repair. • Play a key role in providing intake application assistance, engaging in one-on-one mentoring, data collection and reporting. • Do an assessment of all Shared Equity Properties currently held in the Downstreet Portfolio. Engage with individual homeowners to coordinate services that Downstreet might offer or other community partners that preserve the safety and condition of their homes. • Lead Shared Equity Program informational sessions explaining Downstreet’s permanently affordable homeownership program • Participate in an Independent Service Project under the guidance of VHCB AmeriCorps • Participate in VHCB AmeriCorps Trainings, Service Days, Events, and Program Initiatives. for full description: http://www.vhcb.org/americorps/menu_events/positions/
