Youth Achievement AmeriCorps- Summer Ed/Enrichment Assistant
 
 
 
Gain valuable experience working with youth by participating in the Youth Achievement AmeriCorps program as a Summer Education and Enrichment Assistant. As a Youth Achievement AmeriCorps member you will support Kids on Course (www.kidsoncoursecr.com) and Jane Boyd Community House (http://janeboyd.org/) in their summer programming for youth. As a Youth Achievement AmeriCorps member you will provide both academic and enrichment support performing activities such as * Assisting in facilitating summer programming. Where possible, AmeriCorps members are encouraged to use their unique skills to develop extra-curricular programming (e.g., photography, art or creative writing, etc.) * Assisting in classrooms helping instructors with academic and enrichment lessons * Facilitating and leading small groups of students in academic and enrichment activities * Providing 1:1 support to students through tutoring and mentoring * Helping to plan and prepare enrichment activities and programming Check here for more information: http://unitedwayofeastcentraliowa.org/about/career-opportunities-internships/

Member Duties : * Assist in facilitating summer programming. Where possible, AmeriCorps members are encouraged to use their unique skills to develop extra-curricular programming (e.g., photography, art or creative writing, etc.) * Assist in classrooms helping instructors with academic and enrichment lessons * Facilitating and leading small groups of students in academic and enrichment activities * Providing 1:1 support to students through tutoring and mentoring * Helping to plan and prepare enrichment activities and programming * Attending staff meetings at assigned site(s) and monthly Youth Achievement AmeriCorps meetings. * Attending site-sponsored activities and trainings; participate in reflection and service activities. * Some weekend and evening hours may be necessary. * This position has recurring access to vulnerable populations. Benefits: * Modest living allowance- $2400 for 300 hours of service over 10 weeks * Education award of $1,195
