Make a difference in a child’s life, by being a mentor, role model and fostering the love of reading. The Myers-Wilkins Community School Collaborative is dedicated to "fostering strong partnerships that expand opportunities for positive Youth Development and school, family, and community involvement promoting lifelong learning and appreciation of our diversity." Our integrated focus on academics, social emotional skills, youth development and community engagement leads to improved student learning, stronger families and healthier communities. Myers-Wilkins Community School Collaborative takes a preventive approach to addressing poverty’s negative impact on youth by working closely with students and their families to develop the skills they need to become educated and active members of the community. The Collaborative Summer programs are geared toward providing exceptional enrichment experiences for children that broaden horizons while building upon and reinforcing essential academic, social and life skills.

Member Duties : Experience the excitement and confidence you bring when helping a child succeed. VISTA members provide literacy-rich arts and academic enrichment learning activities for children enrolled in the COMPASS Camp Summer School and Imagination Station programs. VISTAs will serve as integral team members, helping to plan, organize, and lead summer school activities with a focus on literacy. VISTA members provide individualized and small group literacy skills-building activities and engage students in hands-on enrichment opportunities and field trips. Gain teaching and leadership experience in a diverse and welcoming environment. *[2] positions available.
