Land of Lincoln Legal Aid. is an Illinois not-for-profit corporation. We provide free civil legal services to low-income persons and senior citizens in 65 counties in central and southern Illinois. We believe all people of central and southern Illinois should have access to justice, income security, adequate housing, quality education, healthcare, safety from violence and exploitation, and the opportunity to improve their own lives. Our mission is to provide low income and senior residents of central and southern Illinois with high quality civil legal services in order to obtain and maintain their basic human needs. Through advice, representation, advocacy, education, and collaboration, we seek to achieve justice for those whose voices might otherwise not be heard; to empower individuals to advocate for themselves; and to make positive changes in the communities we serve.

Member Duties : A VISTA at Land of Lincoln Legal Aid will assist with efforts in its efforts to develop a Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP) for the veterans’ community. The MLP will serve low- income veterans and active duty personnel through improvement of health outcomes by alleviating legal stressors. Eventually, the MLP will become a part of the culture of the Veteran’s Administration. The VISTA will help to develop a system designed to meet veterans' needs through a physical presence in the Marion County Veterans Administration office, in addition to developing a referral network.
