Tribal VISTA Leader: Stewards Individual Placement Program
 
 
 
**THIS POSITION IS AVAILABLE IN BOHT OUR COLORADO OFFICE (Durango, CO) AND OUR WEST VIRGINIA OFFICE (Beckley, WV)** **THIS POSITION REQUIRES APPLICANTS TO HAVE COMPLETED AT LEAST ONE (1) FULL YEAR (365 Days) OF SERVICE WITH AMERICORPS, AMERICORPS VISTA, OR PEACE CORPS** The TCU/VISTA Team places VISTAs with Land-Grant Tribal Colleges and Universities to develop and expand economic opportunities with a special focus on the development of agribusiness and food sovereignty on Tribal lands. Serving as a TCU/VISTA Leader is a unique and exciting opportunity to meet and work with a diverse group of people from the non-profit, educational, and government sectors of society, and broaden one's understanding of this country's communities, organizations, and landscapes. To be eligible for a VISTA Leader position, you must have served: -One complete year as a VISTA -One complete term full-time as an AmeriCorps State & National member -One complete term as an AmeriCorps NCCC member -One complete term as a Peace Corps Volunteer Please make sure it is clearly stated in your application the type and duration of service completed! Member Duties : TCU/VISTA Leaders: travel for site visits and conduct team call arounds; create networks for VISTAs to engage one another; offer resources to VISTAs in the field; attend conferences and member training sessions; serve as an active member of the support office and assist in administrative management of the program while creating best practices to help the support office work more effectively; and address any VISTA, supervisor and/or site issues that occur. TCU/VISTA leaders gain experience and skills in organizational and community development, mentorship, diplomacy, outreach and communications, networking, leadership, and computer programs. In your application please share any experience working around Native American Tribal communities, community development, and languages.
