MN Health Corps 15-16: Winona Health & Wellness

WSU’s Health &Wellness Services addresses seven dimensions (social, spiritual, occupational, mental, physical & environmental) of wellness through multiple health promotion and advocacy activities in addition to offering primary care clinic services. H&WS utilizes multiple evidence-based models and theories of change in developing and implementing programs each year for the WSU community. H&WS works closely with numerous community partners including the Women’s Resource Center of Winona, Live Well Winona, and more. WSU is recruiting a college graduate to serve for one year as a VISTA to help develop community capacity within three areas: gender based violence, food insecurity and the public health planning process for greater Winona Community. With activities and responsibilities ranging from working with student volunteers to writing grants to coordinating events and community meetings, there are many valuable experiences offered. Not only does the member make a difference in the Winona campus and community, they gain valuable experience for their next job or graduate school endeavor.
