The key elements of EOTOSA’s program delivery are: 1. Tutor training and ongoing support by EOTOSA staff; 3. Ongoing training in best practices for the adult learner; 4. Tutor recruitment outreach activities through print, electronic and social media, community events, college campus community service projects and volunteer organizations such as AARP, United Way and employee service groups; 5. A weekly minimum of 5 hours of one on one, customized, student paced instruction – 2 hours of intensive tutoring and 3 hours of student self- study through homework assignments; 6. Training materials for the older learner that are rooted in sound instructional methodology and the latest evidence-based research; and 7. The identification of locations throughout the community where tutoring sessions can be held to reach more students and to provide more location options for tutors.
