Farmers Market Associate
 
 
 
This project will create the infrastructure needed to expand the Bounty Buck Program, diminish the administrative burden, and expand the capacity of our office to provide fresh food to constituents in need. Bounty Bucks are a double value coupon program for SNAP clients at Boston Farmers Markets. The program both enables snap recipients to access fresh fruits and vegetables, and enables the stabilization of farmers markets in neighborhoods that would not otherwise be able to support a farmers market. 87% of SNAP users participating in Bounty Bucks said it was key to their ability to access fresh, healthy food. The program has demonstrated remarkable success, and this VISTA will allow that to continue, and to expand to more constituents. The VISTA will work on digitizing our current Bounty Buck Redemption System, and will contribute to the Strategic Planning process to allow the program to grow and survive past the life of this grant.

Member Duties : This AmeriCorps VISTA will plan an implement a roll out of Boston Bounty Buck Digitization and refinement effort. He/She will also lead the strategic planning process for Bounty Bucks, identifying opportunities to expand the program, and leveraging interests and expertise of the strategic planning group to meet the goals outlined. Finally, he/she will work with the Office of Food Initiatives, the Boston Public Health Commission, the Partnerships in Community Health Grant Committee, and the bostonCANshare campaign to identify sources for long-term funding sustainability for Bounty Bucks, long term and past the life of the grant.
