HopeWorks Go Fish Entrepreneurs Program Developer at VCS

Village Community Services (VCS) is a mission-driven organization committed to making a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities. We have been providing quality residential support and vocational services to adults with disabilities for more than 40 years. Our service area encompasses Snohomish, Island and Skagit counties. VCS support services and advocacy help individuals with disabilities to achieve integration and full participation in their communities. We provide a continuum of vocational supports to individuals with developmental and other disabilities. Services are tailored to each individual's specific needs, goals and aspirations. Our job training, coaching and placement help alleviate poverty by allowing participants to obtain long-term employment. According to the North Sound Mental Health Administration, the unemployment rate of adults with serious mental illness in Snohomish County is 90%. Individuals with developmental, mental and other disabilities experience barriers to secure jobs which have pathways for careers and income progression. Village Community Services is launching a new entrepreneurship training program, “Go Fish Entrepreneurs” targeted to low income individuals who have disabilities and their caregivers. The purpose of the program is to guide the Go Fish Entrepreneurs through the process of developing a successful small business in order to raise themselves out of poverty.
