HandsOn Greater Phoenix - City of PHX, Public Works
 
 
 
Serve at the City of Phoenix Public Works program with HandsOn Greater Phoenix! For over twenty years, HandsOn Greater Phoenix has worked with nonprofits, low-income schools, neighborhood associations and government entities to assess and meet the volunteer needs of the Greater Phoenix area. The HandsOn VISTA program supports twenty VISTA members serving in the role of volunteer or program coordinator at multiple sites and in doing so, hopes to infuse volunteer management competency into the community. Members will enable our community service partners to build lasting infrastructure by creating the processes and tools needed to effectively access and utilize valuable volunteer resources. At the same time, more opportunities will be created for community members to engage in meaningful service to under-resourced communities. Members will also improve their capacity for leading their communities during and beyond their terms of service by developing their knowledge, skills and abilities related to volunteer mobilization and civic engagement through additional training and professional development. First round interviews begin in January!

Member Duties : The Volunteer Program Coordinator will work directly with staff and volunteers to build capacity and leverage resources through volunteer programs and initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to help create a department volunteer program that incorporates neighborhood revitalization, waste diversion and sustainability, and job training. The coordinator will also support the efforts of the City Manager’s Citywide Volunteer Program.
