DOI/VISTA - Questa Fund, Rio Grande del Norte Natl Mon

The overall program is to assist the Questa Economic Development Fund in its efforts to prevent cultural and economic devastation in the village of Questa due to the closure of the major employer, the Chevron mine. There are very few job opportunities in the area. Fortunately, the village of Questa is located near Red River, the Rio Grande del Norte National monument, Carson National Forest, and many US Forest Service Wilderness areas. Questa would like to transition from a mining town to a “gateway” town to those environmental sites while also honoring its mining history and diversifying the post-mining economy. The program will be involved with this transition through assisting with implementing economic strategic planning, town revitalization, entrepreneurial development, increasing funding sources, and developing environmental, agricultural, and ecotourism programs and job training. Applications are reviewed and the position will be filled on a rolling basis. Please apply early to be considered.
