Randolph Area Community Development Corporation (RACDC) is a not-for-profit community based organization in its 25th year with a mission to: develop and preserve and affordable housing for low and middle income residents, attract, retain and support business and job opportunities, and encourage downtown and village revitalization. The position will be divided between two primary goals: • Updating and advancing the goals of the stewardship plan for an area of rare and important Sugar Maple/Ostrich Fern Floodplain Forest in the heart of downtown Randolph. The stewardship plan has four major goals integrated into our approach to stewardship: EDUCATION, RESOURCE MANAGEMENT, RECREATION, and COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. This year, the resource focus will be expanded to include other related work in the downtown where the town, RACDC and other agencies are working to expand and connect open space and trail opportunities that will enhance downtown revitalization and conservation efforts along the river. • Housing placement and improvement, and mobilization related to senior, service enriched housing, including the following goals: mobilization of volunteers and matching community seniors with affordable housing. Service will be both outdoors and indoors. Outdoor service in natural areas and may occasionally be in inclement weather. This position is Full Time: Requires 1,700 hours for an average of 40 hours per week for 48 weeks. Member will receive a living allowance of $20,400 (pre-tax), and an education award of $5,920 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service. Member Duties : Conservation: • Review and update floodplain stewardship plan • Perform invasive species removal, interpretive trail development • Coordinate public educational tours to improve understanding of natural functions • Coordinate volunteer work parties to advance stewardship goals on this and adjacent properties • Assist in landscaping of areas in the vicinity of the flood plain forest to reduce maintenance and reduce likelihood of invasive intrusion • Create informational materials and displays for distribution Housing: • Identify resources for seniors able to live independently with access to services and service-enriched housing; • Assist housing managers in reaching out to eligible populations to further housing placement to improve quality of life • Community outreach to professionals and the public at large with information about local housing and service opportunities for full position description
