Open Media Foundation Media Education VISTAs

Open Media Foundation (OMF) is seeking AmeriCorps VISTA members for one year, beginning Feb, 2015. OMF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to putting the power of media and `technology into the hands of the people through services, education and tools. This include video production and website development services, multimedia classes, and the operation of the local public access TV station - Denver Open Media. Join the Open Media Foundation’s Education Department to assist in reaching organizations and individuals who serve low-income communities as we instruct them in the power of media to enhance their missions and broaden their reach. AmeriCorps VISTA members working at OMF will organize technology and media classes, conduct extensive outreach with partnering organizations and individuals, and conduct media technology assessments of other nonprofit organizations. Benefits of this assignment include access to free multimedia classes at OMF and working in an exciting environment of a TV station with other people determined to provide opportunity for positive social change.

Member Duties : Deliver Technology Trainings: Plan and organize tech trainings for nonprofits and individuals Develop or assist in developing curriculum as needed Recruit volunteers and/or businesses to lead the trainings Effective marketing of trainings through community partnerships Technology Assessments: Develop a comprehensive technology assessment questionnaire Identify targets for technology assessments Conduct tech assessments with nonprofit organizations Deliver comprehensive report of tech assessment to organizations with recommended actions, including capacity building and sustainability Outreach to low-income communities: Develop outreach plan for Denver Latino/a community and people with no secondary education Active marketing of education and tools provided by Open Media Foundation to target communities Plan community outreach events
