BMVP - Montana Ready Communities - Helena

Montana communities frequently experience significant shocks, such as flooding, wildfires, boom/bust economies and industry closures. These adverse events disproportionately impact low-income, rural and tribal communities. The overall poverty rate in Montana was 14.6% in 2016 and nearly 25% of all rental housing units across Montana are not affordable or available to households with limited income. This initiative will promote a proactive and holistic approach to community planning and preparedness. The Department of Commerce works to enhance and sustain a healthy economy so Montana businesses, communities, and people can prosper.
