Service opportunities are located in the following counties: Duval, Baker, Nassau, Clay, St. Johns, Putnam, Citrus, Levy, Marion, Flagler, Volusia, Pinellas and Hillsborough. The AmeriCorps members who serve in the AmeriCorps CareerSource Youth Services program will deliver direct workforce services training and activities to engage to "at-risk" youth who reside in the assigned regional workforce board area. The targeted youth demographic are between the ages of 14-21, are disconnected from school and/or work and face barriers to employment. The barriers faced by these youth include, but are not limited to, involvement in the criminal justice system, parenting teens, youth in or aging out of foster care, and children of migrant and seasonal farm workers. The workforce services provided through this project include career exploration and guidance, employer engagement activities and school/work follow-up services. The services provided by the AmeriCorps members will give disadvantaged youth an opportunity to receive employability skills training in a structured evidence-based program environment that will improve their employment outcomes.
