Food Recovery Network Development Consultant

Food Recovery Network unites students on college campuses to fight waste and feed people by donating the surplus unsold food from their colleges and donating it to hungry Americans. Founded in 2011, FRN is the largest student movement against food waste and hunger. FRN has grown to include chapters at more than 150 colleges and universities in 37 states that have recovered nearly 810,000 pounds of food. Each chapter works with on-campus dining halls and off-campus eateries to divert food from landfills to community members in need, while also raising awareness and inspiring action on issues of food waste and hunger in America. The Development Consultant VISTA will work with FRN’s Director of Development to achieve the following: assess latent potential for giving of our current and past donors; develop strategies of thanking and engaging donors in our work; create an alumni ambassadors program to organize giving of past volunteers; maintain Customer Relationship Management system; and improve and implement fall annual fundraising drive.

Member Duties : The Development Consultant VISTA will work with FRN's Director of Development to transform our fundraising protocols for all avenues of donations, from individual donors to corporate sponsors. This VISTA will assess our current and prospective funders for ways to strengthen these relationships. He or she will brainstorm and implement ways in which we can engage and thank our donors more regularly, including setting up volunteer opportunities and site visits for donors to see the impact of their gift on the community. The VISTA will explore potential high-level donors and opportunities for corporate sponsorships, as well as leverage our alumni volunteers and their networks for donations. In the fall, the Development Consultant will design a “Fundraising FRNdzy,” an inter-chapter fundraising competition. These systems will maximize our fundraising potential and will have a lasting legacy on our financial stability.
