Food Recovery Network Partner Liaison

Food Recovery Network unites students on college campuses to fight waste and feed people by donating the surplus unsold food from their colleges and donating it to hungry Americans. Founded in 2011, FRN is the largest student movement against food waste and hunger. FRN has grown to include chapters at more than 150 colleges and universities in 37 states that have recovered nearly 810,000 pounds of food. Each chapter works with on-campus dining halls and other, off-campus eateries to divert food from the landfill to community members in need, while also raising awareness on issues of food waste and hunger in America. By May 2016, Food Recovery Network aims to be on 180 campuses and to have donated more than one million pounds of food. Each chapter works with on-campus dining halls and off-campus eateries to divert food from landfills to community members in need, while also raising awareness on issues of food waste and hunger in America. The Partner Liaison VISTA will work with the FRN Member Support Department to achieve the following: develop strong communication between official FRN chapters and their hunger-fighting community partner agencies; strengthen relationships between student volunteers and client/staff of partner agencies; implement and update feedback channels for partner agencies; evaluate the communities served by partner agencies; support programming with local hunger-fighting partners that give volunteers opportunities to appreciate the importance of their work.
