2014-15 Sun Valley Food Assessment Research Coordinator

In the heart of Idaho, Blaine County holds a wonderful mix of resort and rural communities. This could be your chance to live in America's first ski resort, Sun Valley, and affect real change in a community dedicated to healthy lifestyles! The Hunger Coalition strives to end hunger in Blaine County by providing wholesome food to those in need and by promoting solutions to the underlying causes of hunger through collaboration, education and advocacy. The VISTA project will seek to assess the accurate level of household food security in Blaine County, unite community stakeholders and affect policy with regard to community health. The project expects to benefit the 61.3% of households (roughly 13,550 people according to the Census Bureau) in Blaine County whose incomes are below the average cost of living for our county and may be unable to make ends meet. Two VISTA members will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities such as creating a community food security assessment team (FSAT), compiling data on food security, mapping resources and services and producing or overseeing policy creation for the community over the course of one year.
