Library Summer Associates at Anchorage Public Library
2015 Summer Vista Job Descriptions Craving an Alaska Adventure? The Chugach National Forest is in our backyard. Spend your days engaging youth in our summer reading activities to prevent summer learning loss and serve as a leader and mentor for Volunteens, providing them with career development opportunities. Develop adult computer curriculum and teach basic computer skills to adults in our new Innovation Lab. Miles of bike trails make it easy to get out and about to enjoy the long summer days. Anchorage Public Library is looking for 5 VISTA Summer Associates, to serve at these locations: Chugiak-Eagle River Library, Mountain View Library, Muldoon Branch Library, Z. J. Loussac Library — Youth Services and The Innovation Lab. Four VolunTEEN Coordinators will be the first point of contact within the library for teen volunteers, a trainer, a supervisor, and mentor. Develop teen-friendly enrichment activities, including an end of summer celebration, and make the Volunteen program rewarding for the library and for the youth. One Innovation Lab Computer Boot Camp Coordinator will work with the Innovation Lab Coordinator and Adult Services staff to develop curriculum, promote and teach basic computer training to adults, assist with evaluation and create a sustainable plan for continuation of computer classes. Benefits: On the job training Living allowance of approximately $1222/month Education award or summer stipend upon completion of program Service commitment runs May 26th through August 4th. Member Duties : Schedule, train and manage teen volunteers to assist in their career development skills. Work with library staff to develop team building activities. Develop volunteer rewards such as end of season party, weekly check-ins and prizes. Assist with summer activities for all ages of youth. Innovation Lab Summer Associate will work with the Innovation Lab Coordinator and Adult Services staff to adapt curriculum for basic computer training for all ages of adults. Promotion of programs, teaching classes, assessment and evaluation will be required.
