The 3-year Building Stability in Housing Project's goal is to establish a statewide continuum of service in the realm of housing education and counseling that will increase the placement of impoverished individuals and families in affordablepermanent housing through the delivery of culturally-appropriate financial education and micro-loan products.

Member Duties : As an AmeriCorps Member working on the Renter Referral Program, you will get a chance to immerse yourself in homeless and affordable housing issues with the goal of identifying partners and building bridges between the for-profit housing players (realtors and landlord) and the non-profit housing players (emergency and transitional shelters, mental health specialist, financial literacy educators, and youth programs). You'll look at systems of intake and service, bringing a new perspective and assisting programs to become more effective. Working on two previous years of VISTA work, you'll also get a chance to test VISTA developed projects and build training tools to implement projects into main stream organizational programs.
