South Cumberland Plateau VISTAs Project

SEEKING VISTA LEADER---MUST HAVE ONE- YEAR OF VISTA EXPERIENCE. The South Cumberland Community Fund and The University of the South (Sewanee) have partnered to offer a unique community-university South Cumberland Plateau VISTA Project (SCPVP). This project is a full-time, one year, post-graduate service program in which 10 VISTA volunteers will work with community partners at six distinct agencies to help build and implement programs designed to improve, health, economic well being and early childhood and family social connectedness and resiliency. Each VISTAs are matched with a service site, typically an off-campus non-profit, where they work to develop new programs, and establish supportive volunteer networks with each community and with the University’s curricular and co-curricular community engagement programs. SCPVP provides professional development training to enhance each VISTA member’s personal and professional development, including community organizing, grant writing, volunteer recruitment, and sustainability. In addition to providing invaluable professional experience in health education, food insecurity, energy conservation, early childhood education, economic development or and grant writing, this VISTA program is team focused, providing group programming, support, and social opportunities for each VISTA. Make a difference! Help us improve our South Cumberland Plateau communities!
