South Salt Lake Intergenerational Poverty Prevention (IGPP)

The South Salt Lake Intergenerational Poverty Prevention (IGPP) Coordinator will work to build a system through which the state and city can more easily identify the barriers and key issues surrounding inter generational poverty. This VISTA member will work with the city and state to build clearer, more defined and active partnerships in the community to address such barriers that are identified through the state and local groups this VISTA member will be attending and chairing. The IGPP Coordinator will base their work on the larger poverty prevention work (education, income and health focus) from the Utah Department of Workforce Services IGP Director, Lynette Rasmussen, who was charged by Utah Governor Herbert to direct activities and resources that support the content area in which is currently focused and linked to local communities (this is the mission of the VISTA-connecting a statewide initiative with this very specifically designed community). The IGPP Coordinator will create partnerships and new strategies for communication and outreach to increase participation and coordination in the IGPP issues in South Salt Lake. In addition to creating capacity to address barriers and develop ways to get the resources “on the ground” for South Salt Lake residents. This individual will take on the capacity-building work of the South Salt Lake Jobs and Economic Development Council (JEDI) along with the Jobs and Economy VISTA.
