Aeon Volunteer Coordinator Summer Associate
 
 
 
Aeon is seeking an independent, energetic and organized individual for a short-term full-time NeighborWorks AmeriCorps Summer Associate positions (June 9, 2014 through August 3, 2014). The Summer Associate AmeriCorps member will work within Aeon’s Volunteer Program to successfully lead volunteer groups from schools, worship communities and corporation. The Summer Associates will develop skills in volunteer management, program development and gain experience working in a dynamic nonprofit environment. Aeon is an award-winning nonprofit developer, owner, and manager of high-quality affordable apartment homes in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Established in 1986, Aeon has built or renovated 2,160 apartments and townhomes, which provides stability to more than 4,000 people each year- including individuals and families with low to moderate incomes, seniors, and formerly homeless individuals. Aeon's mission is to create and sustain quality affordable homes that strengthen lives and communities. Qualifications • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Comfortable working in economically, socially, and ethnically diverse communities • Strong organizational and planning skills required • Candidates should be familiar with basic Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) • Experience organizing/managing groups of volunteers or event coordination helpful • Must be a resourceful problem solver with an attention to details and a seeker of excellence who values results, hard work, customer service, and loyalty to Aeon’s mission • The ideal candidate will have education, experience and/or interest related to community development, social services and volunteer management • Flexible schedule is a requirement as opportunities can and will occur on weekdays, weeknights and weekends. • Valid Drivers’ License, reliable vehicle and vehicle insurance preferred

Member Duties : The successful candidate will work to complete the following projects: • Lead volunteer projects, with an emphasis on landscaping and gardening projects, as well as some outdoor painting and other. Projects will include some evening and weekend hours. • Work to recruit resident volunteers to volunteer on an ongoing basis to water plants, weed, and assist with maintaining the properties where they live. Provide support as needed to resident volunteers. • Organize supplies needed for volunteer projects and help maintain supplies during the volunteer program’s busiest season. • Assist with administrative tasks that help the volunteer program run efficiently. This includes generating personalized thank you notes for volunteers, tracking volunteer hours, completing research for projects (material costs, opportunities, etc.), and other related tasks.
