FIT VISTA - Community Engagement at Early Learning NH

Early Learning NH is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to ensuring that all New Hampshire children have the opportunity to reach their full potential by: supporting early learning programs, such as child care, Head Start, preschool, and afterschool, and the children and families they serve; raising awareness about the importance of the early years; championing effective early learning policy; and building public-private partnerships that promote innovation and investment to strengthen early learning in the Granite State. Early Learning NH lends a crucial voice to the advocacy necessary to advance and sustain state and federal policies in support of early childhood. Early Learning NH helps build sufficient public will to support increased investments for early childhood, informs the field of challenges and opportunities to advance early childhood through the annual professional development conference, offers members and stakeholders an opportunity to further the shared services model that improves quality through cost savings achieved through sharing resources, and performs outreach to educate the NH business community on the importance of early childhood development. The work of Early Learning NH is strengthened by its projects including The Seacoast Early Learning Alliance. This Alliance is a ground-breaking, shared services model for early childhood programs to strengthen business practices and enhance program quality by sharing administrative services such as management, financial administration, group purchasing and programming and reinvesting savings into quality programming for children and their families, in order to give children a better start.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will help ensure that early childhood education programs are financially sound; engaged in continuous quality improvement; have sufficient opportunities for professional development; have widespread community involvement; and are accessible, affordable and of high-quality for young children and their families. The VISTA member will also help to expand the Seacoast Early Learning Alliance (SELA), a groundbreaking alliance developed as a new shared services model for area early childhood programs to strengthen business practices and enhance program quality in order to give children a better start. In 2013, SELA began expanding outside of the seacoast area to increase the power of its economy of scale. The VISTA will help to identify new programs to join the Alliance. A membership of 360 will ultimately allow SELA to be sustainable.
