QENO/LINC Volunteer and Community Outreach

At LINC, our services delivery goals are to increase job skills, teach the "soft skills" required for advancement in employment and sustainable employment, and help mitigate the impact of other social factors on earning potential. LINC operates 3 primary programs that help us meet this mission: 1. MER Transitional Living Facility- provides transitional housing and case management services (including referral and coordination with community service providers) that seek to address the transitional needs of men and women returning from prison to the community, with a spirit of mutual respect and support between our residents and the community. Our goal to decrease recidivism is informed by an understanding of the link between incarceration and poverty, addiction and poverty, and re-incarceration. The stigma of incarceration, combined with frequent mental health and addiction problems make employment difficult. 2. LINC Urban Farm/Social Enterprises- provide on the job training in targeted areas and "soft skills" training in a hands on and supportive environment. These programs focus on green entrepreneurship and community connections. The Urban Farm, in particular, is a pilot for a model that could help address food deserts and healthy living issues for inner city residents. 3. LITE- provides youth development programming including job readiness skills for at risk youth in Wilmington. These youth are "at risk" largely due to social and economic factors stemming from poverty. LITE's programming targets and combats multiple risk factors.
