[POSSIBILITY OF AN EARLIER START DATE]. The mission of Mille Lacs County Community and Veterans Services is to promote the health, safety, and well-being of all county residents, by providing the services, resources, and assistance necessary for residents to improve their lives. Our office is located in Milaca, MN about 60 miles north of the metro. The goal of this VISTA project is to educate the public about resources and programs that are available to them within the county so that individuals and families can reach and sustain financial stability. The VISTA member will work with Eligibility Workers as well as the public to help identify and eliminate barriers within our current process that applicants experience when seeking assistance. The VISTA member will assist in coordination of the Operation Community Connect. This is a one day event focused on providing residents of Mille Lacs County with resources and services available to them year round to help them sustain financial and life stability.

Member Duties : VISTA member will develop and conduct a survey of current program participants to identify barriers within the application process. This individual will develop a manner to streamline the application process. The VISTA member will also educate the community with the available resources and public assistance programs. This may be done through creating brochures, flyers, organizing participation in local fairs, etc. They will also have the opportunity to greatly impact the community by assisting in the organizing and planning of the annual Operation Community Connect. The member will work closely with potential vendors of the event to entice participation and coordinate activities of the event to educate the community of the valuable resources available.
