SERVE PHILLY - Tech Tutors Program Coordinator
 
 
 
Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter’s Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service is accepting applications for one full time SERVE Philadelphia AmeriCorps VISTA member to serve for a period of one year on a project designed to increase access to educational opportunities and strengthen community volunteer networks. The Tech Tutors Program Coordinator will be responsible for sustaining and expanding the project through its second year. The VISTA is expected to work closely with other City agencies and community-based partners to implement the project. Additional responsibilities of the Tech Tutors Program Coordinator include convening monthly Partners’ Meeting to update all of the agencies participating in the project. This position will also provide ample opportunities to collaborate with other volunteer-based initiatives within the Mayor’s Commission on Literacy. This position requires an interest in adult education, project management, volunteer recruitment, professional development, and organizational development. The ideal candidate must be a team player, have an ability to work well in diverse neighborhoods, with diverse populations, high-comfort level with technology, and a strong attention to detail.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA working on this particular project will build the Mayor’s Commission on Literacy’s capacity to sustain and expand the project by (1) Overseeing the Implementation Team that reviews and evaluates monthly the project activities and outcomes, and suggests ideas and strategies for improvement of the pilot. (2) Providing ongoing support and training to volunteer Tech Tutors and community-based partners. (3) Building outreach and recruitment strategies on behalf of the project, managing the project’s data collection protocol, and with Commission staff, develop strategies for long-term sustainability of the project.
