[POSSIBILITY OF AN EARLIER START DATE]. The mission of the CWC HRA is to support the creation of affordable housing, economic development and redevelopment projects towards a more vibrant Crow Wing County. The CWC HRA is staffed by the Brainerd HRA and located at 324 East River Road in Brainerd. The Brainerd HRA just recently began staffing the CWC HRA and in 2013 conducted a strategic planning session to determine a mission statement and goals for the agency. The VISTA will be instrumental in assisting the implementation of the goals established by the CWC HRA which include creating awareness and visibility of the Crow Wing County HRA through education and collaboration with partners and exploring funding or facilitate redevelopment projects. The VISTA will specifically work on creating awareness of the CWC HRA through education and collaboration with our partners, exploring redevelopment options in downtown Brainerd and assisting with the development of a failed subdivision. This position will provide a VISTA with well-rounded experience in public relations as well as the development and redevelopment of commercial and residential properties.

Member Duties : The VISTA will be involved in three major projects: 1) Assist in creating a PR campaign which includes familiarizing themselves with the Resilient Regions project and the work of the CWC HRA; developing marketing materials which might include brochures, mailings, web presence, etc.; developing press releases about the CWC HRA; and, developing and preparing a presentation for City Councils, and arranging, scheduling, and preparing materials for the presentation and conduct presentations. 2) Assist in reestablishing a failed subdivision by establishing a list of community partners, planning a community meeting, working with a designer to develop a plan and assist in soliciting developers. 3) Assist in a redevelopment project in downtown Brainerd by obtaining funding for a redevelopment plan, create a RFP to hire a firm to conduct a redevelopment plan for the area and participate in the redevelopment process.
