Corps 18 Summer Associates 2014 (Asheville, NC)
 
 
 
Summer Associates will support schools and communities with addressing summer learning losses that result when students are not provided educational activities during summer breaks. Corps 18 Summer Associates will serve in low to moderate income communities around the country to create and implement academic summer programs in partnership with local schools and other community partners. These efforts will ultimately have a positive impact on overall student success by using levels of engagement and student attitudes as key indicators.

Member Duties : Summer Associate will build capacity and create volunteer opportunities for parents and residents to participate in summer learning programs that will support student achievement and attitudes. Specific duties include training volunteer leaders and developing volunteer databases, develop recruitment plans, and provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to students in the areas of reading, math, arts and/or STEM. Corps 18 Summer Associates will work with host site and/or school staff to design, implement and coordinate summer programs or expand existing programs.
