Jobs Foundation/Tech Dump (Emerge)
 
 
 
This position is part of the Emerge VISTA program and will be placed at Tech Dump/Jobs Foundation in Golden Valley MN. Jobs are the foundation to financial independence. Jobs Foundation provides stable jobs to economically disadvantaged adults and a learning environment for skills training and self-sufficiency. Our operating principles reflect our commitment to solving the challenges adults face when they lack job experience or have a past that makes them "unemployable" to other employers (the majority of our clients, who are also our staff, are ex-offenders). We provide opportunities for people who want to work and invest in themselves to earn a new reputation and a successful future for themselves and their families. As a social enterprise, we do this by providing jobs through recycling electronics with our Tech Dump division. Employees test reusable items, destroy personal data, refurbish, breakdown electronics, and sell them online. The proceeds from this process fund our program.

Member Duties : Interested in social enterprises and how business principles can be applied to non-profit management? Do you see the importance of ex-offender job training programs and creating a pathway to self-sufficiency? We have the position you’ve been looking for! You will have the opportunity to create and implement training content focused on soft and life skills, which will allow participants to have lower recidivism rates. Through adapting existing training content and creating content as needed, you’ll put together weekly job and soft skills training, quarterly life skills training, and a new employee orientation. You can test various teaching methods and practice the art of communication and documentation. Your work will be used for years to come, leaving a lasting legacy on our on-the-job training program for ex-offenders.
