Washington County Homeless Project

This is year 2 of a 3 year project. The awesome VISTA member in year 1 identified the homeless and the primary cause of their circumstances; identified gaps in service for the homeless; recruited a community group to serve in an advisory capacity; and with the Advisory Council, created an action plan based on the research. The new, Year 2 VISTA member will facilitate the implementation of the plan which includes developing a winter shelter system utilizing local churches, and finding partners to open a day center. Year 3 will wrap up the project, and turn it over to a 501(C)3 that was either created by the Advisory Council or one of the agencies represented that steps forward to continue the good works of the project.
