Assistant Science Educator

The primary objective of the project will focus on the implementation and continual refinement of a place-based life science curriculum for grades K-6 for the Yakutat School District. This will include coordinating field excursions with students and local agencies (US Forest Service, National Park Service, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, and Yakutat Tlingit Tribe). The secondary objectives of the project will focus on assisting elementary school teachers with the design and implementation of any science based lessons (earth and physical) which include cross-curricular lessons. The project requires that the Center be designed in a manner that serves a dual purpose: an area that can be utilized by visiting researchers performing studies on local resources as well as an area for hands on education and public outreach.
