Neighborhood HealthSource (NHS) is a federally qualified health center (FQHC) providing primary and preventive health services to low-income and uninsured women, men and children of all ages since 1971. Sites include: Fremont Clinic and Heritage Seniors Clinic in North Minneapolis, and Central Clinic and Sheridan Clinic in Northeast Minneapolis. Our mission is to improve the communities’ health through the provision of quality health care that is affordable and accessible. Uninsured individuals receive clinic services on a sliding fee basis and NHS assists and advocates for individuals in applying for public health insurance and to receive other needed health-related supports. We provide more than $2,500,000 of free medical care yearly to individuals in need. Our key values include accessibility through elimination of barriers to health care services; affordability through sliding fee scale, payment plans, assistance with insurance enrollment; relationship-based through staff, patient and community involvement; respect and dignity including valuing our rich cultural diversity, backgrounds and talents; integrity in all decision-making; patient satisfaction with our services, operations and interactions, and; financial sustainability of the organization. This project will focus on increasing interest and use of our seniors clinic located inside the Heritage Senior Center. This position will coordinate outreach and marketing activities to increase access to healthcare at the HSC and to increase overall access to all clinics. **Interviews will occur on a rolling basis and preference will be given to candidates who apply before April 11th. Member Duties : This VISTA position will work on various marketing initiatives, geared toward an aging demographic. The goal of the program is to expand access to healthcare, chronic disease prevention programming and, healthcare knowledge. This will be accomplished through: • Partnering with NHS’s existing outreach staff and programming to expand outreach to senior population • Planning community health events, focused on senior health education • Coordinating health screening, education and promotional visits within the North Minneapolis community • Generating new community contacts serving the aging demographic • Creating and building strong relationships within the community to identify partnership opportunities • Creating of program specific information on company website, promotional brochures, education materials, etc. • Assisting with creation/idea generation of organization specific marketing initiatives including opportunities and challenges
