2014 Summer Habitat ReStore VISTA OSHKOSH, WI

Nearly 20% of Wisconsin residents pay more than 50% of their family income for housing. With a large and growing need for affordable housing in our state, the 40 local Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Wisconsin are working hard to address that need by partnering with low-income families to build, rehab or repair homes. Habitat for Humanity's vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live, and we believe in the value of home ownership, both for Wisconsin's families and for the communities in which they live. Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin (HHW) exists to support Habitat for Humanity affiliates throughout the state of Wisconsin in a coordinated effort to eliminate substandard housing. Our goal is to strengthen affiliates and increase capacity, which ultimately benefits low income families in our state. Our statewide VISTA project will help local affiliates build capacity within their organizations and assist them in serving more low income families, providing decent, affordable housing to help families build wealth and break the cycle of poverty, for themselves and future generations.

Member Duties : THIS VISTA POSITION IS LOCATED IN OSHKOSH, WI. Duties include working with drivers to coordinate pickup and drop off of donations. Work with volunteers to sort, clean, categorize, price, and prepare donations for the floor. Work with recycling volunteers to save usable parts and recycle metals, thereby preventing additions to landfills. Work in partnership with other nonprofits to coordinate the transfer of product unusable at the ReStore to a local nonprofit which can use it, also preventing additions to landfills. Thank donors and complete necessary paperwork. Recruit volunteers, train, coordinate and recognize/thank volunteers. ***Interviews are done on a rolling basis. Please submit application as soon as possible to ensure consideration. Selection maybe made before deadline date posted. start and end dates are subject to change
