NECIC- Workforce Development Demonstration VISTA
 
 
 
The Workforce Development Demonstration Project is an individual, company, and community approach to workforce development and increasing access to employment for individuals with low income. Led by a core team including a temporary staffing agency, a university, a CDC, and a local employer acting as the demonstration site, the project will assist individuals gain and maintain stable employment and increase their chances of escaping poverty. This training addresses knowledge, skills/behavior challenges, as well as situational, motivational and attitudinal barriers to becoming and staying employed. This initiative includes building the systemic infrastructure to support an expanding network of business partners and supportive services, program planning, research of best practices, a training curriculum development, resource guides and toolkits for individuals, employers, and engagement tools for educating and marketing to the community-at-large. The desired results of this initiative are to increase the skill level, productivity, quality, income and advancement opportunities for employees; more profitable and responsive employers with decreased turnover; a more robust local economy, and a community of individuals who are better equipped to meet basic needs of their families.

Member Duties : Coordinate and support core team members: Coordinate core team communication and planning activities including program design, and program evaluation, researching best practices, and making recommendations. Develop ongoing tools and resources: Design instruments and program materials, toolkits and training curriculum. Identify and secure grants and other funding to support the project. Build partnerships with community: Establish a public engagement strategy for jobseekers, media, government, educational institutions, social service agencies, and businesses. Expand partnerships and organize additional workgroups as needed. Support the evaluation framework: Design the ongoing data collection system for evaluation, and maintain records of all activities. Coordinate all evaluation-related activities to determine the impact of the project.
