WIN works to empower people to make informed choices for themselves and their neighborhoods through community building, home ownership, and economic learning. The AmeriCorps VISTA Member will work with WIN staff to increase fresh food access in the South Cumminsville neighborhood. The VISTA Member will work as a part of the team with the implementation of the corner store program, create new community partnerships/collaborations, conduct research to ensure the sustainability of the program, and provide program support for the development of Phase II of the Beekman Street Corridor Initiatives Fresh Food Access project.

Member Duties : • will be a liaison with the stake holders for the corner store project. This will require attendance at regular meetings, sharing information and status updates, and follow-up to advance the process. The Member will also be involved in identifying the second store and provide follow-up to get them on-line and providing fresh food alternatives at the register. • Participation in community meetings to develop relations with health and food related groups. The purpose is to create new partnerships and collaborations that will increase the success of the project and provide opportunities for the residents. • The member will research other communities doing similar projects and create a report on the best practices. The report will also include research on funding opportunities that are available for our project. • the VISTA member will provide support for the Community Development Team working with residents to develop a plan for Phase II of the Beekman Street Corridor
