JFCS - Career Preparation Specialist - PSEI
 
 
 
Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis, a non-profit organization serving people of all backgrounds, is seeking a creative individual interested in participating in the development, implementation and evaluation of a new IT career program. In this project you will use your skills in technology, video, writing, social media and public relations in order to engage diverse constituencies in our sectoral employment initiatives. A component of this assignment will be to interact with employers in order to recruit mentors, develop apprenticeships, and secure job opportunities. This person will also have the opportunity to recruit, train and manage volunteer mentors, and to participate in research and development for grant writing purposes. This person will help with the development of a diverse funding plan to raise $300,000. Duties will also include Recruitment of a volunteer force and development of a training program for approximately 60 participants. www.jfcsmpls.org This VISTA will be part of the Phillips Sectoral Employment Initiative (PSEI) cohort. Members of this cohort will learn and grow together throughout their term of service through bi-weekly professional development, group attendance at regional conferences and regular team building activities. Member Duties : 1. Assist in the development of a dynamic curriculum for participants preparing to enter technology training 2. Identify recruit, train and manage a corps of volunteer technology career mentors. 3. Identify potential employers and develop an engagment tool to recruit them for apprenticeships and job placements. 4. Assist with the creation of grant proposals to help raise $300,000 in funding from multiple funders. 5. Create a draft replication guide that will be used to expand the program to other cities.
