Massachusetts STEM Afterschool Expansion VISTA
 
 
 
MAP, the Massachusetts Afterschool Partnership, in partnership with the Afterschool Alliance, want all children to have access to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) learning opportunities in MA’s afterschool programs. High quality STEM-based afterschool programs provide the perfect environment to engage youth in STEM related topics without risk of academic failure, improve attitudes towards STEM fields, and increase the likelihood that youth will graduate and pursue a STEM career.

Member Duties : Increase collaboration within existing community based organizations (CBOs) with a focus on informal STEM education; Plan and promote a conference for in-school and out-of-school time educators that introduces participants to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS); Plan and Implement a STEM based data collection strategy; Attend and summarize related hearings, meetings and conferences; Assist in drafting content for newsletters, email blasts, event/promotional materials, Twitter and Facebook updates; Support staff with data analysis and suggest recommendations for; Maintain content on MAP web page that references public policy and advocacy activities; Support and promote partnerships alongside the between afterschool and summer programs and STEM rich organizations.
