WVCNCS - Veterans Community Outreach Team
 
 
 
The West Virginia Commission for National and Community Service sponsors a VISTA project that addresses issues facing West Virginia veterans and military families. The Commission is seeking a VISTA to place with the Raleigh County Community Action Association. Veterans and members of military families are encouraged to apply. RCCAA is a private, non-profit organization based in Raleigh County, but serves a 4 county region that includes Fayette, Nicholas, and Wyoming Counties. RCCAA is part of the network of over 1,000 Community Action Agencies established under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 to fight America’s War on Poverty. Recently RCCAA was awarded a grant to provide services to veterans and their families who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless. Working with RCCAA Veteran Services Coordinators the VISTA will: • Create and maintain a veteran’s resource manual for RCCAA’s 4 county region. • Develop educational outreach materials concerning housing services for veterans and their families. • Identify and connect to veterans and their families at-risk of homelessness through outreach and marketing. • Establish a system to ensure that veteran data is accurately collected and entered into existing databases.
