Turning Points Network Dev./Outreach VISTA
Turning Points Network, a crisis and support center in Sullivan County, NH has two primary programs: a 24-hour, county wide comprehensive direct services program providing crisis intervention and support services to survivors of violence whenever they are ready to reach out for assistance and an innovative violence prevention education program in schools and for the general public. Sullivan County has higher than average rates of underemployment, unemployment and families and children living in poverty. More than 90% of the individuals receiving services each year at Turning Points Network live below the federal poverty level. The number of women and men in New Hampshire who have experienced domestic and sexual violence is higher than the national average. Turning Points Network is one of two crisis and support centers in NH that consistently serves a greater percentage of its population. This greater percentage of survivors served is due to the higher number of families and individuals who do not have the resources to impact their situations in other ways, the higher incidence of poverty, underemployment and unemployment, and the lack of other community resources to serve them.
