DOI/VISTA Resource Development Coordinator

The DOI/VISTA program is a collaboration between the Department of the Interior and AmeriCorps VISTA that is changing the way that federal bureaus support national service. The DOI/VISTA program aims to address the root causes of poverty and protect America’s natural resources, heritage, and tribal cultures, through community and economic development, environmental stewardship, and promoting healthy futures in under-served or impoverished communities neighboring DOI resources. Three DOI bureaus are participating in the initial program: Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) with assistance from the USDA Tribal College Program, National Park Service (NPS), and Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). These three bureaus will sponsor fifteen VISTA’s across seven states and three regions in early 2014 as a flagship model for further development of the DOI/VISTA Initiative. These DOI/VISTA positions will bring services to communities in need while connecting emerging professionals to the DOI. *The DOI/VISTA initiative has been modeled on the ongoing partnership between the Office of Surface Mining and AmeriCorps VISTA represented by the OSM/VISTA Teams: The Appalachian Coal Country Team (ACCT) and the Western Hardrock Watershed Team (WHWT).
