Reno Bike Project – Biggest Little Commuter Program

Reno Bike Project’s Biggest Little Commuter Program provides sustainable transportation in the form of bicycles and bicycle maintenance education. This program serves disadvantaged individuals who are actively seeking self-improvement through access to higher education or employment opportunities. The Program has four major facets: Providing bicycles to individuals who demonstrate a real desire to better their situation through their participation in our partnering organizations' programs; Orienting new participants on safe cycling procedures, rules of the road and riding with traffic information; Providing free weekly education workshops with the tools and materials needed so that participants can learn to maintain their bicycles and keep them operable; and Maintaining the stability and sustainability of the program by seeking program funding and bicycle donations, recruiting other volunteers to distribute bikes, get them up and running and administer safety and maintenance workshops.
